Types Of Ads
The marketplace offers 6 different types of ads which you can select during the initial posting or when reposting. It is not possible to switch between different ad types while the ad is live. Available ads are:
- Selling – Used when you are selling an item.
- Buying – Used when you are looking to purchase a specific item.
- Exchange – Used when you are looking to exchange an item you own with an item posted by another seller.
- Gift (free item) – Used when you are giving away an item at no cost.
- Job – Offer – Used when you are offering employment.
- Job – Wanted – Used when you are offering your skills and looking for employment.
How To Promote A Submitted Ad
In order to promote an ad, you must first navigate to your profile and click ‘Your Ads’ which is located under ‘Ads’ in the left hand column. From there you will see all of your posted ads. On the very right hand side of the ad you posted, you will see four icons listed under ‘Action Menu’. Hover over them to find the ‘Promote Ad’ button and click there. Clicking the promote ad icon will open a modal and a list of all available promotions will appear. If you have already purchased promotions, you will see them as your currently active promotions for that particular ad.
Available promotions are:
- Bump Up Ad – This will update the creation date while expire time remains the same. It can be used only once per ad.
- Highlight Ad – This will make your ad stand out from other listings.
- Top Ad – This will make your add appear on the first page of listings, as well as in its regular listing position.
- Urgent Ad – This will display an ‘urgent’ ribbon on the ad box.
- Home Map Ad – This will display your ad on the home map landing page.
With the exception of ‘Bump-Up’, all promotions can have multiple promos added on.
Once you have selected the promotion type and length of time, you can proceed to payment screen. Once the payment is cleared your promotion will be active.
Promotions start from the second they are approved, not when the promotion is requested.
Why Are There Locations In The Drop-down And On The Map?
From the dropdown you are selecting the general location of your advert, while selecting it on the map, you are being more precise. Also, if the location search of the marketplace is set to geolocation, people who search by location will find your ad more easily. Location search of the marketplace can also be set as ‘list of predefined values’ in which case the value from the dropdown is being used.
How Can I Contact A Seller?
You can find a sellers phone number on their profile page or on any of their ads, should they choose to display it.
If you wish to message the seller via our on-site chat, you will need to have an active account. Once registered, navigate to any of the sellers ads and you will notice an icon for sending a message. A list of your conversations is available on your profile by clicking the envelope located under your screen name. There you will find your AJAX messaging system, where you will be able to continue, reference, and delete your conversations.
How The Review System Works
There are two types of reviews – buyer and seller.
The first step is to register on our marketplace. Once you message a seller and the seller responds to your message you will have the ability to review the seller based on your interactions and in turn, the seller will be able to review you.
When users visit your profile they will be able to see your interaction rating and all submitted reviews.
Once you post a review, it cannot be changed. Also, the seller can respond to your review and vice versa.
What Are Favourite Ads?
If you found an ad in which you want to visit again, or keep an eye on, you can mark it as a favourite. The ad will be saved to your list of favourites, which you can access from your profile dashboard.
Payment Options For Ad Upgrades
When you choose to upgrade your ad by purchasing a promotion package you will be offered two payment options:
Paypal – A faster, safer way to send money, make an online payment, receive money or set up a merchant account. Palpal will store your credit card and banking information for a safe and quick checkout process.
Stripe – Stripe provides the technical, fraud prevention, and banking infrastructure required to operate online payment systems. With Stripe you can make payment using all major debit and credit cards from customers in every country.
Both Paypal and Stripe operate similarily, we just included both for your choice and payment satisfaction.
How To Report An Ad
If you feel that an ad is breaking some rules, you can report it directly from the ad page by clicking on the ‘Report’ button. Please be sure to include why this ad was offensive so we can take an indepth look. The ad will remain active until an administrator checks it out.
